Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 27, 2026 · Last Updated: September 27, 2026

YellowMiso ("YellowMiso," "we," "our," or "the application") is a facial authentication application for macOS. This Privacy Policy explains how YellowMiso handles information when you use the application.

Your privacy is a core part of YellowMiso's design. YellowMiso is designed to perform facial recognition and liveness detection locally on your Mac whenever possible.

1. Information YellowMiso Processes

Camera Data

YellowMiso requires access to your Mac's camera to perform facial recognition and liveness detection.

Camera frames may be temporarily processed while you enroll your face or attempt authentication.

YellowMiso does not intentionally transmit your live camera feed to our servers.

Facial Recognition Data

During enrollment, YellowMiso may create a mathematical representation of your facial features, sometimes called a facial embedding or biometric template.

This representation is used to compare future authentication attempts with the enrolled user.

YellowMiso does not need to store a continuous video recording of your face for normal authentication.

Liveness Information

YellowMiso may analyze actions such as blinking or turning your head to determine whether a real person is present rather than a photograph, recording, or other attempted impersonation.

This information is used only for authentication and security purposes.

2. How We Use Information

Information processed by YellowMiso is used to:

We do not use facial information for advertising, behavioral tracking, marketing, profiling, or selling information about users.

3. Local Processing

YellowMiso is designed around local processing.

Facial recognition and liveness analysis are intended to occur directly on your Mac. Facial images and facial embeddings used for authentication are not intentionally uploaded to YellowMiso servers.

Because processing occurs locally, deleting YellowMiso or its locally stored enrollment information may permanently remove information required for facial authentication.

4. Sharing of Information

YellowMiso does not sell, rent, or trade your facial or biometric information.

We do not provide facial authentication information to advertisers or data brokers.

Information may only be disclosed where required by applicable law or where necessary to protect the security and legal rights of YellowMiso, its users, or others.

5. Data Storage and Security

YellowMiso uses reasonable technical measures intended to protect locally stored authentication information.

Where appropriate, sensitive secrets or cryptographic material may be protected using macOS security technologies and cryptographic protections.

However, no software or security system can guarantee absolute security. YellowMiso should not be treated as a replacement for all other security protections available on your Mac.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Facial enrollment information is retained only for as long as it is needed to provide facial authentication, unless a longer period is required by law.

Where supported, you may remove your enrolled facial information through YellowMiso.

You may also stop using YellowMiso and remove the application and its associated locally stored data.

Because YellowMiso is designed to keep biometric information on the device, we generally cannot remotely recover facial information that exists only on your Mac.

7. Camera Permission

YellowMiso requires camera permission to provide facial authentication.

You may revoke camera permission through macOS settings. If camera access is disabled, features requiring facial recognition or liveness detection will no longer function.

8. Children's Privacy

YellowMiso is not intended to knowingly collect or transmit children's biometric information to YellowMiso-operated servers.

If YellowMiso is used by a minor, any required consent from a parent or legal guardian should be obtained in accordance with applicable law.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you rights relating to your personal data, including rights to receive information about its processing, access it, correct it, withdraw consent, or request deletion.

Some requests may not apply to information stored exclusively on your own device because YellowMiso may not possess or have remote access to that information.

10. Third-Party Technologies

YellowMiso may rely on operating-system frameworks and machine-learning technologies to provide its functionality.

Those technologies may be governed by their own licenses or terms. YellowMiso's use of third-party technology does not give us permission to sell or use your facial information for unrelated purposes. See the credits and licenses in the project's THIRD_PARTY.md file for what those technologies are.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when YellowMiso changes or when legal or regulatory requirements change.

When material changes are made, the updated policy will include a revised "Last Updated" date.
